What is rideable now?

If you look at the Rideable Now logo, you might wonder exactly what lies behind it. Is it a media channel? Is it a community? Is it a brand?

The answer is that it’s an ecosystem.

Rideable Now is a not-for-profit social enterprise with a clear aim: to Inspire, Grow, and Fund adaptive mountain biking. We achieve this through a unique combination of media content, community, and membership.

But the way we do it is a bit of a curveball.

Rideable Now is built entirely around the activity of adaptive mountain biking - the brands, the products, and the people that define this category. But here is what I have learned from ten years of making content on GMBN: adaptive content hits home with everyone.

You can see it in the comments of any adaptive video. It’s full of able-bodied riders saying, “This reminded me how much I love riding,” or “I need to get out on my bike this weekend.”

LOVE this video, so inspiring. Martyn is so great and the GMBN gang are so cool to enable this. Stunning, please more of this!

So, while we are building this content around adaptive riders, it is incredibly relevant to able-bodied riders too. In fact, it might be the most inspiring place for them to be. And let’s be honest - thanks to the passage of time, we will all become an adaptive rider of some description eventually.

The Philosophy: An Opportunity To Celebrate What Is Possible Now - And What Is To Come

In 2013, I suffered a spinal cord injury that changed my life forever. At that time, the technology hadn't quite aligned with the ambition to get back into the mountains. But just a few years later, the e-bike revolution began to dramatically upscale the capability of adaptive bikes.

What is possible on an adaptive bike now is profound. But the truly exciting thing is that this is only the beginning. The technology is only going to improve - essentially, the bikes we have today are as "bad" as they will ever be. In the future, the capability will be unbelievable.

We are positioned at the dawn of what adaptive riding is, and can be. Rideable Now is here to witness and celebrate that. This tech isn't just about shredding trails; it creates a vehicle capable of unlocking the great outdoors for millions of people - traversing walking paths, climbing mountains, and accessing that deep, spiritual quiet you only find in nature.

That access? That ability to move through the landscape? That is life-changing power. And it is available to all of us.

The Mission: The Inspiration Ecosystem

I believe in the power of adaptive riding content.

When a newly injured patient in a spinal unit sees a video of someone tackling a technical descent on a Bowhead, it plants a seed of hope. But here is the thing: when an able-bodied rider sees that same video on their phone, it hits them just as hard. It’s a reminder of why we all ride. It makes you think, “I must get out on my bike this weekend.”

That is the engine of Rideable Now. We are a media hub first. We create awesome riding films and video features, and host podcasts with our Pro Ambassadors and the world’s best adaptive riders. We produce ‘Trail Diary’ videos that showcase the world’s best trails from an adaptive perspective - featuring the local riders who hit them day in, day out. We also create ‘Factory Build’ videos for the entire MTB community. These are pure ASMR engineering and bike build indulgence, celebrating the amazing machines we love - and crucially, giving our Rideable Now members the chance to WIN these incredible ‘Factory Build’ bikes. More on that in a moment…

We are building a platform where the content is so good, so compelling, that you want to watch it regardless of whether you walk or roll.

The Mechanics: How It Works

So, how do we turn that inspiration into action? This is where you come in.

Rideable Now is a Social Enterprise. We have built an ecosystem where the content feeds the community, and the community funds the change.

It revolves around a simple membership model. For £5 a month, you become a member of Rideable Now.

  • For you: You get access to exclusive content, discount codes from our partners (like Peaty’s, POC, Hope, CRUD and MTBHopper), and entry into our monthly competition draws where members can WIN product from those same Brand Partners. Plus, you get entered into our bi-monthly ‘Factory Build’ competition, where you can WIN a superbike worth over £10k.

  • For the sport: Your £5 builds the Rideable Now Access Fund, a grant pot designed to help disabled riders close the gap and get riding. We use this money to help people buy an adaptive bike that could transform their lives.

We all know that adaptive bikes are expensive. We also know that many riders are out there right now, running crowdfunding campaigns, saving - trying to raise the cash to get their freedom back. We help those riders to purchase their bikes. If needed we connect them with our Pro Ambassadors to boost their signal. And then, when they get close to their target, Rideable Now steps in with a Grant from our Access Fund, helping them get over the finish line - our aim is to cover 25% of the cost of their bike.

Join The Movement

We want to grow the sport of adaptive mountain biking. We want to normalise seeing three-wheelers and four-wheelers at the trailhead. That will only help build accessibility to the Trails. But even more than that, we want to create a community that celebrates the simple, beautiful act of moving through the great outdoors.

Whether you are here to win a bike, watch a film, or change a life - welcome to Rideable Now.
